Career Opportunity
Under the general direction of the General Counsel, the Director of Quality Management will lead the Quality Management (QM) and review program. The incumbent will be responsible for creating teams, completing Quality Management Reviews (QMR), documenting results, and completing reports detailing findings, and making recommendations. He or she will also be responsible for completing due diligence procedures on firm mergers.
The Director of QM will ensure all required policies and procedures are adhered to, will suggest changes where needed, and will follow-up on implementation. The Director of QM must demonstrate MNP’s culture, values, and brand.
Performance Expectations; included but not limited to
Quality Management
•Lead quality management and review program and engage in continuous improvement of some
•Network across the firm to create QMR teams, attracting those with top skill and ability
•Lead QMR team to monitor the quality of completed engagements and propose future enhancements
•Ensure all service areas have properly developed and implemented policies and procedures in accordance with the Canadian Standards on Quality Control and/or other professional or firm standards
•Depending on the findings during QMR, recommend corrective or disciplinary actions needed when warranted, and assess if the issue in question is systemic or an isolated issue
•Follow-up to ensure recommended corrective or disciplinary actions are taken
•Identify quality and efficiency improvements as needed
•Annually report to the GC, who will in-turn report to the CEO and Board, on the results of the QMRs including an analysis on the QM program at the firm
•Lead due diligence procedures on firm mergers, assessing potential merging firm’s quality management, and recommending action depending on findings
Communication
•Maintain effective communication, information flow, and rapport between team members
•Demonstrate ability to convey messages through writing reports, and completing proper analysis
•Connect and collaborate with all practitioners across the firm regarding quality of service delivery
•Participate in meetings as required including provincial institute meetings, and Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB) meetings
•Create and facilitate training for reviewers
•Collaborate, consult, coach, and positively drive change to accomplish business results
•Confidently identify deficiencies, and communicate change needed, regardless of individual’s stature at the firm
•Set up teams for QMR process visits
•Ensure inquiries regarding monitoring matters are responded to in a timely and courteous manner
•Appropriately refer issues and concerns to the most appropriate team member for resolution
•Review and update Quality Monitoring checklists on an annual basis
•Set-up start, and completion interviews with RMP
•Schedule QMR visits and correspond with Regional Managing Partner (RMP), and others as needed, on results
•Distribute review sheets of each engagement to the Regional Assurance Partner (RAP) within first week of completion of the QMR
•Evaluate all reviewer’s comments on QMR and requests clarification as needed
Reports
•Write draft report on QMR, send draft report to the RMP and RAP/ or Service Line Leader, within one month of QMR, review RMP and RAP/ or Service Line Leader comments, make changes as needed, and finalize report
•Create annual report on the QMR’s, including an analysis on the firm’s Quality Management program
Professional Development
•Attend professional development courses, seminars, workshops, and meetings as needed
•Support the mission, vision, values, and goals of the firm
•Participate as a member of the QM Executive
•Participate in Service Line meetings relating to quality control
•Participate in RAP conference calls
•Participate in annual face-to-face RAP meetings
Required Skills:
•Minimum 7-10 years of experience in public practice
•Bachelors Degree
•CA designation, CPA Equivalent
•Ability to travel
